WINGAS LWL has joined the German Broadband Association (BREKO) and therefore belongs to one of Germany’s most important associations for the telecommunications market. It represents the majority of Deutsche Telekom’s competitors in this business field.

BREKO was founded in 1999 and advocates infrastructure competition on the German telecommunications market. More than 290 companies are members, including over 165 city and regional carriers as well as municipal utilities and energy supply companies with activities in the telecommunications market, which supply industrial regions as well as rural areas with high-performance glass fiber connections. Member companies invested just under €1.9 billion in 2015 and generated a turnover of around €8 billion.

“The BREKO Association makes a significant contribution to comprehensive development of the glass fiber network as well as to achieving German government’s broadband targets,” says Britta Jäger-Ernst (GET). “Especially with regard to our activities pertaining to broadband expansion, we regard ourselves as well represented in the future by BREKO.”
